Various news outlets, including NFL.com, are reporting that James Starks has been placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol following a car accident this past Monday.  Starks’ situation is a reminder of the significant injuries that often result from a car accident, as well as the seriousness of concussions in general.  Many people still do not realize that a concussion is a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and insurance companies and adjusters often down-play the significance of a concussion injury.  People that have suffered a head injury as the result of a car accident do not always immediately recognize the symptoms.  Effects of a mild traumatic brain injury can last anywhere from a few weeks to a number of years.  If you, or someone close to you, have suffered a concussion as the result of an accident it is important to pay close attention to the signs and symptoms you may be experiencing.  As always, take time to make certain you are fully healed and speak with your injury attorney before taken any action that may affect your rights to recovery.
